Position Requirements

Education: None
Experience: Four to six months Retail Distribution Center or Warehouse Environment experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. These tasks require the ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 80 pounds. The Team Member should have adequate fitness level to meet the demands of frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing of stairs, occasional sitting, stooping and kneeling with or without reasonable accommodation. May be required to operate P.I.T. equipment. Team Member will be required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per Distribution Center requirements.
Working Conditions: Team Member will work in a non-climate controlled Distribution or Warehouse atmosphere, in which outside weather conditions greatly affect the building’s temperature although fans and heaters are used. Team Member may also be exposed to or work in a restricted space, fumes and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA. Associates may normally be exposed to and required to perform the handling, packaging, processing, storage, disposal or transport of hazardous materials, the operation of a motor vehicle, palletized equipment, machinery or power tools, repairing, maintaining or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment, where the malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage, the operation, maintenance or oversight of infrastructure including, but not limited to, electric, gas, and water utilities, power generation or distribution and the extraction, compression, processing, handling, packaging, storage, disposal, treatment or transport of potentially volatile, flammable, combustible chemicals.
Availability: Team Member will perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.

Bulk Order Filler
General Summary:
Selects merchandise within set quality and engineered standards in order to service stores in a cost effective, safe and timely manner.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensures the correct batch is selected by signing out store orders and verifying batch numbers with the Sign Out Clerk or through voice picking on headset, if applicable.
Focuses on labels to select from correct location in order to provide the stores with the correct merchandise ordered.
Ensures labels are placed properly on merchandise in order to be scanned properly.
Achieves set standards (engineered or productivity) on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Effectively communicates shorts, damages, jams and anticipated shorts to the Sign Out Clerk in order to deliver merchandise to the Shipping department in a timely manner.
Ensures damaged merchandise is handled through the proper procedures.
Completes daily P.I.T. checklist to ensure equipment is working properly and reports any defect to management and/or maintenance.
Operates P.I.T. equipment in a safe manner.
Follows set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety.
Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment within the Bulk department.
Follows all Company policies and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.

Shipping Loader
General Summary:
Safely loads trailers with merchandise in saleable condition to be delivered to individual stores in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Loads trailers while maintaining Family Dollar safety policies to avoid personal injuries and property damage.
Stacks merchandise high and tight to ensure stability of freight and make use of all available space on trailer.
Achieves set standards (engineered or productivity) on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Places freight in a manner that is balanced and minimizes opportunity for damage during transport.
Keeps store freight separated by placing plastic sheeting between orders as determined by batch light and load diagram.
Ensures freight is loaded so that appropriate space is left at end of trailer, determining when overflow is necessary.
Checks boxes and labels to ensure merchandise is not damaged and that it is going to the correct store.
Works as a team to prevent production downtime due to overloading or merchandise being left on the extender.
Loads non-conveyable merchandise at appropriate time and in store order.
Follows set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety.
Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment within the Shipping department.
Follows all Company policies and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
